Storage of bee pollen granules?

by Pat Horner
(Mashpee, MA, USA)

I just bought a 2 kg bag of bee pollen granules from you. How do I store this and how long will it last?

Thank you.

Hi Pat,
The best place to store your bee pollen granules is in the freezer. Stored this way, the pollen will last for several years. In the freezer, bee pollen won't turn to ice or crystalize. It remains very accessible and easy to spoon or pour.

Storing jarred her pollen granules
by: RichelleB.po.sh

Hi. I've seen the Amish selling bee pollen at our local farmer's market. It is sealed in a jar but the jars are sitting out on a table for the whole event. They're inside a building, so no sunlight, but it's sitting out at the warm summer temperature. It's not refrigerated. You can hear the granules if u shake the glass jar. Is this safe? How is it safe? How should it be stored after opening? Thank you!

Angela's Comments:

Yes Richelle, provided the bee pollen was dried it is safe to consume. Once dried, bee pollen is quite safe and stable. If the bee pollen is fresh out of the hive and has not been dried, then it must be kept cold to remain fresh.

retains its shape?
by: OLIVE

HI! I'D LIKE TO KNOW IF IT RETAINS ITS SHAPE (granules) INSIDE THE REFRIDGERATOR/FREEZER OR IT BECOMES LIQUID WHEN STORED IN A FREEZER?

Angela's comments:
Yes, it remains in granule form.
