Hi, I'm Marcella.
It's been a year that I became a fan of propolis. I want to know if it's ok to give it to my baby occasionally, just to maintain her health or to make her get better when she gets the cold/flu. I need to be sure if it's safe for her. Thank you.
Angela' Comments:
Hi Marcella,
Propolis is a very safe compound for most people and I do know of babies consuming it safely. However, I do encourage extreme caution when giving propolis to a baby. Start with very, very small amounts and very slowly increase the dose if the child tolerates the propolis well. Most people who have given propolis to their children use our powdered product. And I'd encourage you to let your Doctor or pharmacist know what you are doing or better yet, work with a Naturopathic Doctor to determine if propolis is suitable for your child.

My daughter has developed cold sores on her nose and outside mouth. I have been recommended propolis liquid. Is this suitable for my 4 year old daughter
Thank you Lisa Goodwin.
Angela's Comments:
Propolis is quite safe. Reactions to it are quite rare so if you are going to use it on your child, begin with a very small amount and if she tolerates it well, increase in small amounts daily until you reach the working dose recommended.

What amount of propolis should i give to my 11 month old baby?
Hi Mary Rose,
I wouldn't recommend giving propolis to an 11 month old unless under the supervision of a medical professional. While very safe and reactions are very rare, it is best to be ultra safe with infants.
I have encountered customers who have safely given very, very small amounts of propolis to their young children in a 20% water based tincture (a drop or two). I don't recommend this but know it has been done.
Sorry I can be of more assistance.

Angela

I use propolis all the time for myself. But i know you cant give honey to a child under 1 year. But can i give propolis. Like for sore throats.
Angela's Comments:
There is no definitive age minimum for propolis that I am aware of but I would say one year old is probably a safe age to start.

I was wonder what dosage would be suitable to give to a toddler for general health and immune support? I was thinking of adding the tincture to his morning cereal along with some raw honey.
I got the capsules and was originally planning to take the propolis content out of the capsule and give a portion of it to my son; but then I realize it's not easy taking the propolis content out. Hence I am going to try the tincture (water base).
Thank you for your time,
a North Vancouver Mommy :)
Angela's Comments:
It is recommended to start with only one drop to ensure tolerance. Increase from there up to 3 - 5 drops daily.

I have purchase a proplis herbal elixir for myself as i have a very bad cough and also my daughter has now delveoped it too. She is 2 years and 1 month is ok to give it to a child of this age?
many thanks
Hi Vonnie,
Your two year old should be able to handle small amounts of propolis but be very careful and only start with very, very small micro doses to ensure she tolerates it well. Always let your Doctor know what you are taking as supplements as well.
