Bee Pollen--allergies, sex drive and weight

I started taking Bee Pollen about 2 months ago for my allergies. Over time, it has helped tremendously. I am up to taking about a tsp 2-3 times/day.

I read in your blogs that it is supposed to help with sex drive and weight loss. I have absolutely no sex drive as i am perimenopausal and haven't noticed any improvement as of yet. I have also been experiencing a substantial increase in appetite and weight. Please advise.

Angela's Response:

Bee pollen can help with sex drive and weight but it doesn't necessarily help everyone with these issues. I suspect that your weight gain is simply a by-product of your increased appetite and the key will be to find out if it is indeed the bee pollen causing this. I always recommend you first go off the bee pollen for several weeks to determine if it is indeed causing your increase in appetite. This is unlikely but I have seen stranger things so do this first and then get back to me.

If you are peri-menopausal, I highly recommend you try taking a quality royal jelly supplement or powder. It has been my experience that royal jelly is more effective for hormonal issues (which is likely the cause of your weight gain) than bee pollen. The many studies done on RJ would substantiate this.

Side affects of bee sting treatment
by: Anonymous

Hi, I started bee sting treatments for my RA a few months ago. I am also past menopausel for about 2 years now. The strangest thing, I think the treatments are increasing my sex drive. Lol I had no clue this would do this till I saw your blog, but I guess everything has side effects; I’ll take this one gladly. By the way, the Bee venom therapy is amazing for my RA. I was to a point that I was just about wheel chair bound and the pain was unbearable. Now I am about 80% better. I will always live with RA but now I can live life again, and I will enjoy the side affects. Thank God for Bees.
