Bee Pollen and Pregnancy

Are bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis safe to use in pregnancy and further on to lactation?

Angela's Response:

Let me preface my answer with this. I am not a doctor and I can't medically advise people while pregnant. I can only speak from experience. But yes, we have had many clients use bee pollen, royal jelly and propolis (non-alcohol based tinctures only) during pregnancy.

In fact, I consumed bee pollen and propolis during my pregnancy on a regular basis and continued to take it while breast feeding. And my baby is healthy as can bee!

Just make sure you're consuming as safe a product as possible. Try to get a local source that you trust is free of chemicals, insecticides, pesticides and anti-biotics.

Royal Jelly During Pregnancy?

i am trying to find out if it's safe to take royal jelly while pregnant?

Angela's Comments:

Many people have taken royal jelly during pregnancy safely. I am one of these people. However, I can not offer medical advice to you so I'd recommend you speak with your Doctor or Pharmacist or better yet, a Naturopathic Doctor to determine if this is a safe supplement for you and your baby.

Is Bee Pollen safe during pregnancy?

Are royal jelly, propolis, bee pollen and honey safe to consume during pregnancy?

Angela's Response:

Almost all supplements will state not to take them during pregnancy or during breast feeding. This is because it is prudent to be ultra safe and cautious for the sake of the baby. And understandably so. And while we must state the same on our products due to the regulatory bodies hear in Canada, I can tell you what I did personally during my pregnancy. I don't recommend you do the same but offer it only as an example of what some choose to do.

I consumed royal jelly, bee pollen and raw honey regularly during the time my husband and I were trying to get pregnant. Once we had conceived, I stopped the royal jelly but continued to take bee pollen and raw honey as a regular food. I used our water based propolis anytime I was around 'colds' or felt like I was coming down with something. Bee pollen was mixed into my morning protein smoothies daily and raw honey was used in place of sugar throughout my pregnancy. My child was born totally naturally and is a picture of health today. While breastfeeding, I continued the exact same process.

bee propolis

Thank you so much for your response and personal experience! I'm pregnant with my 3rd and my gums are steadily receding and the bee propolis seems to stop the receding. I began taking it before the pregnancy and I plan to continue throughout. I'm also taking royal jelly for energy. Thank you again!

My wife is pregnant and taking prenatal. About now much pee pollen should she consume? Should she still be taking prenatal while taking bee pollen?

Angela's Comments:

Yes, continue to take a pre-natal during pregnancy. One tablespoon per day is a dose often used by pregnant women.

Thank you for this. I am pregnant with my 8th child and have been researching taking bee pollen during this pregnancy. I have very easy pregnancies and births, but always seem to lack energy. Thank you for your insight.

Bee pollen pregnant

Hi, i would like to ask. As i am pregnant, how many dosage of propolis and bee pollen can i take? Thank you.

Angela's Comments:

We have found that pregnant women have taken 3 - 5 drops of the water based tincture or 1 - 2 capsules of propolis caps safely and up to a tablespoon of bee pollen while pregnant.

Be sure to inform your doctor of any and all supplements that you take during your pregnancy to be on the safe side.

Bee healthy,
Angela
