My Blueberry-Bee Recipe, an update on our wintering bee's and more!
January 13, 2011
Dear

It's Angela here from Bee Pollen Buzz.com with another issue of The Buzz e-zine. A belated Happy New Year to you and your family! January is a wonderful time to reflect upon the year that was and set new and exciting goals for 2011.

My hope for you is that one of your goals in 2011 is to let our bee's help you improve your health, even if it is just a little bit. Whether it is through the use of our bee pollen or raw honey or perhaps through a tip in one of our forums, I truly hope that Bee Pollen Buzz can assist you in attaining a whole new level of health and vitality this year.

What the bee's of Dutchman's Gold are up too....

I just spoke with my dad (the beekeeper) to get an update on how our bee's are keeping in this cold, harsh winter of 2011. (these same bees produce our wonderful honey products) I always worry about our bee's over the winter, especially in lite of the recent Colony Collapse Disorder problems we've been having in recent years. Here is what he had to say:

"Our bee's appear to be wintering well so far this winter. We really try to leave them alone this time of year as we worked them pretty hard in the summer so we won't truly know how well they've made out until March or April. But, we're very hopeful that we won't again see the losses of previous years in the summer of 2011. We'll be sure to let you know how they made out when spring rolls around!"

A Component Found in Honey & Propolis May Bee a Possible Anti-Cancer Agent

This is exciting news. I recently came across a study in the International Journal of Oncology that revealed that a component found in raw honey and propolis called Chrysin may be a potent anti-cancer agent.

What the scientists found was that Chrysin was able to induce cell death in human cancer cells.(it caused the cancer cells to die) They also found that it reduced the proliferation or growth of the cancer cells. Truly amazing stuff and just another reason why the longest living peoples in the world almost all consume bee products regularly...

My favorite bee pollen smoothie recipe...

As many of you know from reading my articles, I am a morning smoothie person. I find they give me incredible energy and vitality. I often get asked about what I put in my morning smoothies so here is one of my favorite recipes.

I call it my Blueberry Bee recipe...

• 300 ml of filtered water (more or less to desired thickness)

• 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (Brad King Hi Alpha Whey Protein or on Vegan days I use 1 scoop of Sunwarrior Vanilla Rice protein)

• 1 tablespoon Dutchman's Gold raw bee pollen granules

• 1 scoop of Amazing Grasses greens powder (or another greens powder)

• 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries

• 1 tablespoon of Dutchmans Gold Raw Honey

• 1 tablespoon of Udo's Oil or Organic Hemp Oil

I then blend it all together (I use a hand blender) and voila! A wonderful way to start each day! Enjoy!

Do you want healthier nails?

I recently received this wonderful testimonial from one of our lovely bee pollen users about her journey in discovering how bee pollen greatly aided her nail health. It truly made my day. In fact, it made my week! I'd like to share some of her letter with you. I've removed her name and location for privacy.

"I wanted to elaborate on how I came to making the connection between bee pollen and my nails becoming stronger - no longer flipping up at the ends. This happened over a period of a couple of years.

I have been changing my diet for many years now eating less meat and dairy and more vegetation, and I have made it an everyday practice to observe what is good for my body and what is not. One day, bee pollen popped into view in my local grocery store so I took it home to give it a try. I liked that it was considered a complete food and felt good knowing that the fat and nutrients that may have been missing from my daily diet could be filled in by using it on a daily basis. I began taking 1 tablespoon a day along with my 1 1/2 tablespoons of flaxseed ground for 5 seconds in my spice grinder and mixed with water. I enjoyed the sweet taste added to my regular flaxseed, which I had been taking for years.

Then the grocery store had a big sale: 50% off all of the bee pollen. Being someone who loves garage sales and the thrift store where truly one of a kind treasures can be found, I also love a good sale so I bought out their entire stock. To my chagrin, months later when I went to replace my stock and they no longer carried it. I knew I was going to have to find a new source of bee pollen. Flash forward several months of procrastination to this task and I noticed that my nails were flipping up again like they always had in the past. Instantly, I knew it was due to the lack of bee pollen in my diet because this was the only change that I had made in those last few months. Well, this was the motivation I needed to get me off the procrastinating stool onto the searching stool, which lead me to you.

Your website is fabulous! After many hours of reading and searching and becoming quite confused, I was so relieved to find you. You answered all of my questions about where to buy taking into consideration your location to the source and what to look for quality wise and you personalized it all for me as well - I knew I was talking to someone experienced with the product, not just someone trying to sell it. So I ordered from you.

Flash forward several months later, and I was not surprised to find my nails to be strong and flippless once again. Flash forward a year later (probably even longer - I find that time does fly now that I am in my 40's) and I am writing this small expose to you still loving the bee pollen taking it daily with my flaxseed.

As an aside, I did read an article about how nails are a good indicator of our health. For example, a few months after we have been on vacation (a time when we do not hold true to our daily regime) my husband never fails to have a divit in his thumbnail. Back on his regular diet (including bee pollen), it goes away!"

I truly hope your 2011 is off to a wonderful start! Please let us know here at Bee Pollen Buzz if we can assist you in reaching your health goals in any way!

Bee Healthy ~ Angela
